2011 Scholarship Recipients

Caylie AllenCaylie Allen (Poway, San Diego County) (Anne Trabue)
Caylie graduated from Poway High School in June 2011, where she was on the girls' golf team for four years. She is attenting Biola University. She is pursuing a degree in biology with a goal of going on to medical school and eventually becoming a pediatrician. She received numerous academic honors and achievement awards in high school. She is a receipient of a Bev Granger Scholarship.




Bryeann Barckley Bryeann Barckley (Canyon Lake, Riverside County)
Bryeann graduated from Cathedral City High School in June 2011 and is attending Dixie State College in Utah. Bryeann plays golf but is an accomplished bowler and will be on her college team. She has chosen to major in business. She has loves the performing arts and hopes that the practicality of a business degree will help her as she later pursues an acting or dancing career path. She is the recipient of a Palm Valley Women's Club Desert Fund Scholarship.




Hannah Basalone (Brea, Orange County)
Hannah is a 2010 graduate of Whittier Christian High School where she received many awards. She is attending Seton Hall University, majoring in Communication and Law. She is a member of Seton Hall's first women's golf team, an intern at Seton Hall's radio station, and a member of the National Society of Collegiate Scholars. She received a Bev Granger Scholarship.


Florisee Batoon Florisee Batoon (Cathedral City, Riverside County
Florisee is a 2011 graduate of Cathedral City High School where she reveived a number of academic honors. She is attending the University of California at Irvine where she will major in biological science. She has served as an intern in the radiology department at the Desert Regional Medical Center and will eventually pursue a career in the medical field. She received a Palm Valley Women's Club Desert Fund Scholarship.



Stephani Buchholz Stephani Buchholz (Yorba Linda, Orange County)
Stephani is a 2011 graduate from Esparanza High School. She was a member of the girls' golf team and served as team captain. In addition to a distinguished sports career she received many academic awards. Chapman University is her college of choice and she intends to get a degree in biology on a pre-med track. Ultimately she would like to become a reconstructive surgeon and help children with deformities. She received a Bev Granger Scholarship.



Jacquelin Callison Jacquelin Callison (Riverside County)
Jacquelin graduated from Cathedral City High School and received the MVP player award for girls' golf in her senior year. She has served as a Docent at the Children's Discovery Museum of the Desert in addition to other local activities. She also enjoys soccer. She is attending San Diego State University where she will major in Liberal Studies, which will allow her to experience many classes in a variety of subject areas. She received a Desert Fund Scholarship.




Carolina CarpenterCarolina Carpenter (Thermal, Riverside County)
Carolina graduated from Desert Mirage High School where she had a distingushed golf career including a trip to the CIF Championship. She was actively involved in other student organizations and activities. She is attending the University of California at San Diego and her major is Marine Biology. She has received a Palm Valley Women's Club Desert Fund Scholarship.




Rochelle ChanRochelle Chan (Carson, Los Angeles County)
Rochelle is a student at Cal State University Long Beach where she is a member of the women's golf team. She has been playing golf for over 13 years and participated in three CIF championships and was a runner-up in the CIF State Championship in high school. In addition to golf, she plays tennis. At CSULB she is a part of SAAC which helps athletes who are not able to perform due to illness. Her major is business marketing. She has received a general fund scholarship.




Jacqueline DavisJacqueline Davis (Coronado, San Diego County)
Jacqueline graduated from Coronado High School in 2010. She attends Cal Poly San Luis Obispo where she is pursuing a degree in Business Administration with an emphasis on marketing and design. She enjoys the use of the Cal Poly golf practice facilities, though she is not playing competitive golf. Ultimately she would like to get a master's degree in either Business Administration or Graphic Communications. She has received an Ann Trabue Scholarship.




Anna DePalmaAnna DePalma (San Clemente, Orange County)
Anna graduated from San Clemente High School in 2010. Anna plays on the University of Hawaii's women's golf team. While attending the University of Hawaii she has been actively involved with the Student Advisory Committee and is Community Service Chairperson. She is a member of SPGA and volunteers with junior events for this organization and the AJGA. She received an Ann Trabue Scholarship.




Desiree DominguezDesiree Dominguez (Whittier, Los Angeles County)
Desiree was a 2010 graduate of Western High School. She attends Fullerton Community College where she received Fullerton College Scholar Athlete award for the 2010-2011 school year for her participation on the women's golf team. She ultimately wants to pursue a degree in Criminal Justice and a minor in Forensics. In the future she hopes to transfer to a Cal State University.




Sharon Don (Anaheim, Orange County)
Sharon is a 2011 graduate of Savanna High School. Sharon participated in the programs at the Tiger Woods Learning Center where she developed a love for the game of golf and through classes at the center, became interested in business and entrepreneurship. Among her unique honors is that of serving as honorary Broadcaster of an Anaheim Ducks game. She received many awards for leadership and academics while in high school. She is studying communications with an emphasis in advertising at Cal State University Fullerton.


Meili EubankMeili Eubank (Carlsbad, San Diego County)
Meili graduated from Pacific Ridge High School where she received numerous academic honors. While in high school she participated in a number of school clubs in which she held leadership roles. She received Cadet status in Girl Scouts. She is a classical pianist in addition to being an accomplished golfer. She is a founding member of the boys' golf team (not enough girls) at the high school. Meili will be attending Dartmouth College, undertaking a double major in two fields as yet not determined. She has received a Mimi Deatherage Scholarship.


Michelle FolanMichelle Folan (Los Angeles, Los Angeles County)
Michelle graduated from Marymount High School where she was on the varsity golf, basketball and track teams and was an MVP in all three sports. She has been active in her community volunteering at the Westside Children's Center among other things. She is a member of the National Honor Society and California Scholarship Federation. She will be attending Santa Clara University, with an intended major in Marketing and Communications. She has received an Ann Trabue Scholarship.




Kristen GrimesKristen Grimes (Compton, Los Angeles County)
Kristen is attending Cal State University Northridge and will be playing on the women's golf team. She has received a general fund scholarship. Her major is business management. While at St. Joseph's High School she was captain of the golf team. She is a volunteer at First Tee of South Los Angeles. In the future she hopes to combine business and golf as a career.




Keanna HarperKeanna Harper (Oxnard, Ventura County)
Keanna was a 2009 graduate of Santa Clara High School. She is a junior at the University of Southern California where she is a pursuing a Bachelor of Business Administration with an emphasis on Cinematic Arts. Her minor is Screenwriting. During the past year she had two internships, one with a reality television production company and the other with an entertainment law firm. She has been the recipient of many awards. She found golf to be a good way to network with professionals in the community. She received an Ann Trabue Scholarship.



Joanna HenryJoanna Henry (Santa Ana, Orange County)
Joanna graduated from Rosary High School where she was a scholar athlete for four years. She has been an active participant in the girls' golf team and served as co-captain in her senior year. She works as a youth golf instructor at her local golf course. In the community she volunteers at Mary's Kitchen, a homeless center. She has received numerous academic awards and was a participant in the O'Conner Institutes for Ethics and Leadership for three years. She will be attending Columbia University where she will be a member of the women's golf team. She has received a Flo Scott Scholarship.


Kelsey HummerKelsey Hummer (Aliso Viejo, Orange County)
Kelsey graduated from Santa Margarita Catholic High School where she was captain of the varsity golf team. She also played JV softball. In both sports Kelsey excelled. Kelsey actively involved herself in projects which benefitted her community such as her involvement with the Orange County Rescue Mission. She will be attending Cal State University Monterey, majoring in journalism and business. She is the recipient of a WSCGA Ann Trabue Scholarship.




Joyce KimJoyce Kim (Carlsbad, San Diego County)
Joyce graduated from Cathedral Catholic High School where she received many academic honors. She has served in leadership positions in all the school clubs with which she was involved. She has competed in a variety of golf events which included international competition and has been recognized for her ability. Joyce will be attending Princeton University and will be a part of the women's golf team. She is the recipient of a Bev Granger Scholarship and is majoring in biological science.




Brittney LewisBrittney Lewis (Oxnard, Ventura County)
Brittney was a 2007 graduate of Capistrano Valley High School. After graduation she attended Saddleback Community College before transferring to Cal State University Los Angeles where she is majoring in nutrition with an emphasis in dietetics. Her goal is to receive her bachelors degree and eventually a masters degree in this field and open her own clinic. She has received a Bev Granger Scholarship.




Mya MawMya Maw (Arcadia, Los Angeles County)
Mya Maw graduated from Arcadia High School. She was awarded a general fund scholarship and is attending the University of Nevada Las Vegas where she is majoring in Professional Golf Management. She is an accomplished golfer, having won many awards in high school. She served a volunteer golf teacher for children at a local golf academy and also volunteered at Methodist Hospital. Golf will continue to be a part of her life through her major.




Annie McSorleyAnnie McSorley (San Diego, San Diego County)
Annie graduated from Poway High School. She is a recipient of a Bev Granger Scholarship and will be majoring in psychology at Point Loma Nazarene University. She will be playing golf on the women's team. She was a valuable player of the Poway High School team for four years and has been an active participant in the program founded by her mother, the LPGA-USGA Girls Golf of San Diego program, where she helps teach future players to enjoy the game of golf.



Mya MinMya Min (Arcadia, Los Angeles County)
Mya Min graduated from Arcadia High School and is a recipient of a general fund scholarship. She played golf for four years at Arcadia and was a volunteer at a local golf course. She will be majoring in Professional Golf Course Management at the University of Nevada Las Vegas and hopes to combine her love of golf with management skills and become a professional golf instructor.





Monica MoraMonica Mora (Thermal, Riverside County)
Monica graduated from Desert Mirage High School where she was a member of the girls' golf team and participated in a program called AVID in which she helped the booster club and assisted with translation at parent conferences. She is one of nine children and has worked while going to school and maintaining excellent grades. She will be attending Chico State in the fall. She has chosen to major in public administration/anthropology. One day she would like to be a health professional. She has received a Palm Valley Women's Club Desert Fund Scholarship.


Hannah PanoHannah Panno (Menifee, Riverside County)
Hannah graduated from Paloma Valley High School in 2009 and is currently attending Cal Poly San Luis Obispo where she is a junior majoring in anthropology and geography. She is exploring internships for next spring to work with Geographic Information Systems. She has become involved with environmental issues and wants to work toward maintaining our earth. While education is her number one priority, golf is her number one necessity in life. She has received a Flo Scott Scholarship.




Vanessa Reno (Anaheim, Orange County)
Vanessa is attending Cal State University Long Beach and hopes to be able to join the women's team. She presently serves as an instructor at the Orange County Golf Academy. Her major is pure mathematics with minors in chemistry and psychology. She may apply to the FBI Academy upon graduation. She was instrumental in the creation of the creation of the girls' golf program at Magnolia High School as a student. She is the recipient of a general fund scholarship.


Nicole Rivera (Cypress, Orange County)
Nicole is the recipient of a general fund scholarship. She was a distinguished golfer on the Irvine Valley Golf Team. She was the 2011 Irvine Athlete of the Year. She will be attending Cal State University Fullerton where she will major in kinesiology. After graduation she would like to follow her dreams and try out for the LPGA. She values attaining her education first, something she can always fall back on.


Bow-Kay SalottiBow-Kay Salotti (Palm Desert, Riverside County)
Bow-Kay graduated from Palm Desert High School where she was a member of the girls' golf team and served as a Senator of Athletics in ASB. Prior to turning to golf she was an avid baseball player, playing on a boys' traveling team. Her baseball coach was former Dodger, Steve Garvey. She is attending Cal State University Long Beach on a Golf Scholarship. Her intended major is Business and Marketing. She has received a Palm Valley Women's Golf Club Desert Fund Scholarship.




Mia SavardMia Savard (Menifee, Riverside County)
Mia graduated from Paloma Valley High School in 2009 and now attends Knox College in Illinois. She is a member of the women's golf team and also volunteers in the community in activities involving children. She is a neuroscience major with a double minor in Psychology and Differential Learning. Over the past year she has come to find her own mental game of golf to help her in competition. She has received a Bev Granger Scholarship.




Vivian ShoemakerVivian Shoemaker (San Jacinto, Riverside County)
Vivian graduated from San Jacinto High School and is the recipient of a general fund scholarship. She is attending San Jacinto Community College with a major in agricultural education. She played golf all four years of high school and served as captain and was MVP. She will be playing for San Jacinto Community College. She has been actively involved with Future Farmers of America which helped her decide on her career path.




Katherine SylvanKatherine Sylvan (San Diego, San Diego County)
Katherine was a 2009 graduate from Francis W. Parker High School and currently attends Harvard University where she is a junior. Katherine plays on the Harvard University women's golf team and was Rookie of the Year in 2010. She is seeking a degree in East Asian Studies. She is very involved with a number of groups at Harvard including the Harvard Model Congress, Harvard Crimson 15 Minute Magazine, and Chinatown ESL to mention a few. Last year she received a scholarship to study Chinese in Beijing for ten weeks. After graduation she is considering a masters' degree in East Asian Studies or Law. She is a recipient of a Mimi Deatherage Scholarship.


Jessica ThorsonJessica Thorson (Los Angeles, Los Angeles County)
Jessica graduated from Santa Monica High School. Jessica received a general fund scholarship and is attending the University of Oregon where she will be playing soccer. Her mother is an LPGA professional and Jessica has developed a love of the game and enjoys playing. Jessica holds Gold and Silver Awards for Girl Scouts. She has a gift for languages and will be studying French through a Romance Language major.




Christine TraChristine Tran (San Diego, San Diego County)
Christine was a 2008 graduate of CHAMPs High School and is now a junior at the University of California at Irvine where she majors in Genetics. She is on the Dean's Honor List. She is exploring opportunities to intern in the medical field and works on campus. Upon graduating she would like to find an internship with Pfizer. Golf is presently her stress reliever and continues to be a part of her life.




Ayana UsseryAyana Ussery (Hawthorne, Los Angeles County)
Ayana graduated from Culver City High School and is the recipient of a Lange Scholarship. She is attending Xavier University and is majoring in Biological Science/Pre Med. She has received numerous academic honors and was involved in leadership roles in many school clubs. She was a Girl Scout and teen volunteer at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center along with other student-mentor programs in the medical field at other institutions. Her involvement in golf is through First Tee of Los Angeles.
